Estafette catering conversion just finished for Heligan gardens

Finally work has started on my 1969 Citroen Hy Van!! You can just see her in the prep bay. 2000 euros of new panels has just been ordered. Next week they start dismantling her and we can start cutting out the two side hatches and any rust we may find..  and welding begins! The seat frames have gone off to be sand blasted before being painted black with Bordeaux red upholstery. New straps also ordered. So far so good, she wasn’t too...

She has now made the long trip home to Cornwall and is just about to go into John Roberts Paint Hub for complete restoration, I am sparing no expense on this van, it is going to be a twin hatch van, one full length with shelf, the other much smaller, to act as the pay point if needed, if...

This old lady was found in the South of France last year looking rather sorry for herself being used as a gate on a farm, but remarkably still worth saving. So after some tough negotiations with the local farmer and nearly 40kg of fruit (which was part of the purchase price!) and a 24 hour journey home work began to transform her 400 hours later here she is UK registered and now working as a catering van somewhere in the UK.

This van was brought in from Lyon where it had been in the same family for nearly 40 years. I had heard about it through my cousin who would drive past it daily on his work commute. Well after a few lengthy meetings and a few glasses of wine later we had reached a deal.
