Thinking of buying an Hy van to convert into a Commercial/food truck?

We decided to put this little article together to answer a few questions we often get asked and to tell you a little more of our services.
Our main objective is to source Hy vans from Europe and deliver to our clients wherever they maybe. We are in a strong position to do this with a French family, who have worked for Citroen for over 50 years has given us countless contacts. Having been raised on a farm just outside Bordeaux, we have gotten to know the farming community very well (still a Hy strong hold).
We are based both in Bordeaux, France and in Cornwall England. We also have agents in Spain and Italy. Last year we successfully delivered just shy of 100 Van’s including Estafettes, D3’s and D4’s.
When sourcing your van there are a few questions you need to ask yourself.
Do you want a petrol or diesel? If a diesel you may be restricted with emission laws and you won’t break any land speed record!
Do you want a LWB? Benefits speak for themselves however they are very rare and very expensive in any condition.
There are 3 main models to choose from the split screen, the mono screen with curved arches (considered the most desirable) and the mono screen with square arches (the last model), which would suit me best?
Then, obviously the price, are you looking for a restoration project or are you looking for a running van that just needs a food bar hatch and some paint work? You need to bear in mind even the most recent Hy van is going to be 35 years old and most have a had a hard working life getting France back on its feet after the war, they will require a little work.
We have recently teamed up with premiumcamper for bespoke kitchens and are continuously working with johnrobertsbodyworks.co.uk where your van can be completely restored and transformed here in Cornwall.
As for registering your van for the UK all information you will need is on our Re-registration page.
